Condobolin Argus, May 2008

Condobolin’s Sing Australia team up with Canberra Choirs and Franklin D. Paverty this Friday for a family feel good night.

A song and dance evening has been arranged by the Canberra Choirs to lift the spirits of their country cousins in Condobolin and Trundle.
Franklin D. Paverty will be ensuring the dance floor at the RSL will be filled to capacity on Friday 25th May.
Paverty are no ordinary band. They are a “bush band” of renown with six CDs to their name. Their music will be familiar rock and country music- great to sing and dance to!

Condobolin’s toes were tapping to classics performed by Franklin D. Paverty and Condobolin and Trundle Sing Australia choirs on Friday night.
“Members of the Condobolin Sing Australia were delighted with the weekend and very much appreciated the support of singers near and far,” says Sue Thomas of Condobolin Sing Australia, “It was amazing to see the audience participate in the singing and dancing with such gusto!”
The event held at the Condobolin RSL Club drew visitors of all ages and incorporated Australian favourites including ‘G’Day G’Day’ and ‘Home Amongst The Gum Trees.’
“On asking one gentleman what he thought of the choir consisting of 45 people, he said he’d only heard the audience,” says Sue, “And that’s just such a huge compliment for the event.”
“Visitors to the town were very impressed with Condo,” Sue says.
“We did wonderful dances like ‘Strip the Willow’ and the ‘Brown Jug Polka’,” says Sue.
National Director of Sing Australia, Colin Slater says, “There is nothing like coming together for a good sing and a bit of fun to ease the pressures in these tough times.”
The Sing Australia Condobolin choir meets every second and fourth Wednesday of the month from 7.30pm to 9.30pm at the Condobolin Community Centre.
